About the BookAuthor Harold E. Edgerton points out the arious types of sonar search devices that were in use at time of publication. He illustrates sonar applications through a wide range of examples that will help those using sonar to observe what is in the water, on the bottom of the sea, and in the sediments. He explains that sonar is important and valuable for two reasons: first, sound waves travel great distances in water without attenuation, and second, sound waves can penetate sediments to locate concealed targets.
