Notes: 1st edition/1st state with jacket containing a letter on the back flap to encourage the purchase of war bonds. Condition: Gift inscription on inside front cover and name written in pencil on ownership page. Text is otherwise clean. Binding is solid with hinges intact. Green cloth cover has color pictorial label on front with only slight wear at corner tips. Cloth has wear at bottom edges of boards and extremities. Jacket is very tattered with multiple large tears and a triangular-shaped chip missing from bottom back edge.
