Notes: 1st edition/3rd printing, June 1928. Book in in quite good condition given its age. Binding is still solid. Text is tanned with age, and has occasional spots and stains throughout, but those are minor and do not affect legibility of text. One small edge tear to a page near the back of the book. Last 2 page edges are only partially cut. Cover has wear at the extremities; buckram is worn through on corner tips and frayed at the spine ends. Previous ownership written on front end paper. The original retail price of $2.50 is penciled in the corner of the first page.
This political satire is written in the manner of Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland." Edward Hope was the pseudonym for Edward Hope Coffey, Jr., and was his first published book. Coffey graduated from Princeton University in 1920 and published subsequent books of humorous fiction, including "She Loves Me," which was made into a movie staring Bing Crosby, Miriam Hopkins and Kitty Carlisle in 1934. The book features illustrations by Rea Irvin.
